Okay, that's long enough.
Let's face it, growing older pretty much sucks. Last week we were in high school wondering who our prom date’s going to be. Today we're in assisted living and lining up for dinner at 4:30.
As we navigate the troubled waters of turning 70-something, many of us who’re entering life's third act get far too grim about it all . And, it’s hard not to when you're wearing Depends and eating prune whip.
Seems like everything hurts. We lose hair. We fall down and break things. We become invisible. We back into other cars in the parking lot. We forget almost everything, Friends become ill and die.
In short, the generation we used to giggle about now belongs to us and we to it. If we let them, these circumstances can beat us up and beat us down. Many of us just give up and feel sorry for ourselves. We
shuffle quietly into the night wondering if we'll last 'til morning,
It doesn’t have to be that way.
For many of us, these can and should be the best years of our lives. As long as we have some of our faculties and move about without tripping over the cat, we have the experience, knowledge and freedom to do and become just about anything we like.
In this blog, my aim is to help you do that. To help you laugh a little. It's published every other week, so you can take your time.
It is my hope that as you read some of this stuff, you’ll be moved to join the conversation. Add ideas of your own. Suggestions and submissions are always welcomed. My only rules are to avoid profanity, politics and truly dumb ideas. I'll take care of this last part.
Beyond that, the stage is all ours. And mine, of course.
